When we are grieving the loss of a loved one, it can feel like we are completely alone in the world.
Grief is powerful, and it can knock us to our knees and make us feel helpless for weeks, months, or even years.
But fortunately, there is always light in dark corners, or our life and happiness come to us again, sometimes in the strangest forms.
Sometimes, it visits us in the form of a new hobby that we form to forget about our sadness. Sometimes, it comes in the form of a cuddly animal that helps us pet our pain away.
For poor George, who lost his longtime doggy companion, his newfound happiness came in the form of a friendly duck, who waddled up to his porch one day.
Though the sweet little duck Donald seemed to come out of nowhere, he turned out to be exactly what George needed to be happy again.

Poor George lost his partner in crime Blackie after 12 years of doggy companionship.
Overwhelmed with grief, owner Jacquie Litton wondered if he would be able to survive his heartbreak.
But that all changed when a little stranger showed up on their porch.
One day, without warning, a duck waddled up and cozied up to poor George.
“It is strange for a duck to just appear at our house and be attached to your dog, and even more strangely, the anniversary week of Blackie’s passing,” wrote Litton on Facebook.
But surprisingly, the duck turned out to be exactly what George needed!
The duck and dog became so close that Litton invited him to stay inside, where George gave him his bed.
In a surprisingly short amount of time, George’s mood lightened, and he seems to have found a new best friend.
He needed someone by his side while he mourned, and the duck, Donald, filled the void in his little heart.
Though they couldn’t be more different, the duck has helped the dog heal from his grief.
“We have no idea where this duck came from, but he sure does love George, and since the duck has arrived, George has not cried one time,” Litton explained on Facebook.
Sometimes, help and healing come to people in strange forms. In this case, it was in the form of a friendly duck!
