The world is divided into two kinds of people. On one side you have those who look forward to the most prestigious sporting event every year: The Super Bowl, and on another, there’s Puppy Bowl which may seem less important at first glance but trust me when I tell ya’ it isn’t!
Animal Planet was a godsend in 2005 when they introduced us to these little guys. These furry athletes would play their own game of football. With its 18th season, Team Ruff will face off against Team Fluff for the “Lombarky” trophy. Watch the Puppy Bowl, and you’ll be participating in an event that celebrates animal puns. When is it being aired? You can find out all of this paws-itive information below.
So you know what to do: get your nachos and dog treats ready on Feb. 13, 2022, because that’s when the next Puppy Bowl will be airing. The game starts at 2 p.m. on Animal Planet and if you have a Discovery Plus account then streaming is available too.
What is it that happens during the Puppy Bowl? A two-hour spectacle, consisting of 103 (adoptable!) puppies divided into teams and set loose onto a miniature football field for tons more playtime. Official Referee Dan Schachner tells us the rules of the Puppy Bowl which can fit on one post-it note. It’s basically “Drag a chew toy into the end zone and doesn’t matter which end”.
The 2022 Puppy Bowl will be hosted by Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart, just like they did in 2021. The co-hosts of this adorable event are eager to assume new roles as Team Coaches. I’m honored to be co-hosting the only sporting event on the planet guaranteed to raise the ‘woof,’ with the magnificent Martha Stewart!” said Coach Snoop. “I’m so excited that Snoop and I are back to kick off Puppy Bowl XVIII, and help a bunch of deserving pups find their forever homes!” said Coach Martha.
Snoop and Martha will keep up-to-date with “play updates, lead training sessions, run drills or provide pawsitive motivation to inspire their all adoptable puppy players.” Professional dog groomer Jess Rona is also on board who can help get new pups into tip-top shape.
However, the Kitten Bowl has been canceled for 2022. But don’t worry it’s not fur-ever! Do you love cats? If so, the Hallmark Channel has got Kitten Bowl for your viewing pleasure. A kitten bowl is a fun event that features adoptable kittens playing in a replica football stadium while they wait to find their forever homes. Unfortunately, the Kitten Bowl has been canceled for 2022 in an attempt to find a new home. Currently, Great American Country (GAC) Media is looking into acquiring this program and thankfully they will still be having their Kitty Half-Time during Puppy Bowl.
