Shuqin, a seven-year-old panda at the Bifengxia Panda Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Ya’an City, China, delivered her first baby and we have live footage of it.
Once the tiny pink baby is born, Shuqin begins to care for her new baby she cradled it in her arms and was very gentle! The newborn was first taken to the nursery to make sure that she was in good health. The tiny baby was a healthy cub that weighed 156 grams (5.5 ounces)!
Any birth of a panda is exciting because they are listed as a threatened species on the World Conservation Union’s Red List. There are only about 1,600 wild pandas left on earth.
