Officer Rescues Horse After He Collapsed On Icy Ground

Aw-gee, an Arabian rescue horse, fell on the ice in his pasture in Pittsburgh, and could not get up. His owner, Val Patsiga called 911 right away after seeing Aww-gee’s hind feet fall beneath him. Patsiga rescued the horse from starvation thirty years ago.

When the firefighters and police arrived, they took the horse on a sled, covered by a blanket in the freezing cold, to a tow truck to try to help him stand. When that didn’t work, they tried to get his blood circulating in his hind legs and fed him sugar and grain.

Aww-gee recovered and Patsiga says she’s extremely grateful for the rescue effort and plans to donate.
