A mini-cow can grow to be between 36”-48” or about one-third the size of standard cattle. They are less expensive to feed than large livestock and don’t produce as much methane.
Mini-cows are social, affectionate, and easy to take care of. They can also help your children learn responsibility.
The smaller cattle are perfect for small farm and don’t require expensive handling equipment or tall fences. Other benefits to the small breeds of cattle are they are good for 4-H or FFA projects.
According to Big Picture Agriculture, there are 26 breeds of mini cattle and they are often used for small-scale milk production, pets, or breeding. If you have two or three acres of property, you could comfortably keep several mini cattle. The miniature cattle breeds were created by a process called “breeding down.”
