Dying Vietnam Veteran’s Final Wish Is Granted When His Loving Horse Visits Him

Though Roberto Gonzales was shot and paralyzed in 1970 during the Vietnam war, it didn’t stop him from following his dream of becoming a horse trainer. Now bedridden and terminally sick, one of his last wishes was to see his beloved horses, Sugar and Ringo, one last time.

The two horses travelled 150 miles to the hospital together with members of Gonzales’ family to bid him farewell. “Horses are his life,” Rosario Gonzales said. “We’ve been training and raising horses for 30, 40 years. When the horses came up to him, he actually opened his eyes. They came up to him and I think they were actually kissing him.”

Roberto Gonzales’ dying wish was to see his beloved horses one more time.
