Goat-Herding Dog Refuses To Leave Flock Behind In Fire But Owner Finds Them Miraculously Alive

Roland Tembo Hendel and his family lost their home and belongings in the Tubbs fire that recently swept through Sonoma County, California.

As the firestorm approached their property, Roland tried desperately to evacuate Odin, his goat-herding dog named after the Norse god.

But Odin refused to abandon his herd of eight bottle-fed rescue goats.

Roland knew they only had mere minutes to load up the animals and flee from the fires. As propane tanks exploded all around them, he was devastated by the realization that he’d have to leave Odin and the goats behind.

Later that day, Roland and his family wept for the animals.

“I was sure I had sentenced them to a horrific and agonizing death,” he said.

Days later, Roland returned back to the property expecting to find his beloved Odin either missing or dead.

That’s when he discovered a miracle.
