Lakomi, an upper-mid content wolfdog, lives in a sanctuary. Although she was rescued from the wild at eight months old, it quickly became apparent that she had been bred and raised in captivity. She was found with a collar around her neck that was so small, it infected her and nearly killed her. When she first arrived at the sanctuary, it didn’t appear that she could be socialized. Her enclosure has fences that are 14 feet high because she would routinely jump or climb 12 foot fencing and hang by her jaw! It took about two months of daily exposure before she would allow physical contact, but once that wall came down she quickly became playful, sweet, loving, and a favorite animal. Lakomi is a gorgeous example of the redemptive power of love.
