This Owl May Be Blind, But He Has The Most Beautiful Eyes You Will Ever See

Zeus, a Western Screech Owl who was rescued by a couple in California when he flew into their home. He hit his head and sat on their porch very confused, they then realized something was wrong.

When they took him to a bird rescue, they found out that  Zeus was completely blind.

The cause of his blindness is that he was born without lenses or irises, so he doesn’t have the mechanisms to actually see. That has given him the star-filled stare you can see in his pictures.

Because of his condition, he can’t be released back into the wild, and now lives in a wildlife center where he can be used to teach children about birds and Zeus’ condition.

Zeus can continue helping people to learn about wild birds and habitat conservation.
