Hope for Paws got a call about a stray dog named Petunia, that had been living near a park for several months. Hope for Paws founder, Eldad Hagar shared the rescue to his Flickr account.
People who visited the park had been feeding her. Eldad and Lisa Arturo rushed over to the park to try and rescue the dog.
Petunia was found under a truck when Eldad crawled under to say “Hi.”
Petunia wagged her tail for a brief second when Eldad reached his hand out.
Petunia even let Eldad stroke her head and she seemed to like human contact. Then out of nowhere, Petunia got nervous and started to walk away. Eldad instinctively grabbed her front paw.
He admitted that grabbing her leg was not a good idea because Petunia could have bitten him.
But, he took the risk and he didn’t want her to get away.
Once he got Petunia on is lap, they realized she was lactating! One of the employees said there was a baby in the bushes!
Petunia’s puppy was found on some leaves and they named the 3-day old pup Petals.
Petunia was glad to see her baby was safe and both were placed in the car. Lisa and Eldad searched, but found no other puppies.
Both Petunia and Petals received clean bills of health. Petunia was filthy and needed a bath.
She had a lot of foxtails inside her ear that had caused an infection.
