These Strange Wild Cats Are Called Caracals And They Just Might Be The Cutest Animals Ever

When you think of big cats, you think of the usual suspects: lions, tigers, and cheetahs. They’re quite majestic in all their splendor, and are at the very top of their food chains. But there are other large cats that don’t get as much attention as they should, as they’re quite beautiful creatures. And one of those cats is the caracal.caracal1

They’re much smaller than their bigger cousins, but they can get to a decent size, about fifty pounds.

They’re mostly recognizable by the long, fluffy tufts of hair they have at the ends of their ears.

They live in many regions of the world, which gives them a wide range of coat colors from pale beige to bright red.

Their ability to climb trees is amazing, but their choice of home is through digging burrows in the ground where they can give birth to their litters in safety.

The kits are cared for until they are old enough to take care of themselves. Their diet consists of rodents and birds, and they can survive on very little water.

Caracals rarely threaten humans, and some are even kept as pets where it is legal. They were even used in Iran as trained hunting animals.

I think I just fell in love with them.
