Visiting a shelter can be a difficult time for anyone looking to rescue a dog. We want to take them all home, but we know we cannot. We know, there is a risk that many of them may not find their forever homes and are in fear of being euthanized. One shelter wanted to change that for one dog who had been in the shelter for about a year.
Dozer began to suffer from depression and even stopped eating when a staff member put a sign around his neck detailing his status. He uploaded it to Facebook in hoping it would tug on someone’s heartstrings. His effort did not go to waste; Dozer was soon adopted and taken to his forever home.
Social media can be so powerful in highlighting the plights of animals. Other shelters can take note of this and aspire to getting all of their animals new homes.
