Family Dog Mistaken For Pit Bull Taken By Animal Control Officers

The authorities in Northern Ireland sent four animal control officers and eight cops to a family’s house to ‘arrest’ their sleepaholic dog named Hank.

Why? Because Hank, 2 years old, looks like a pit bull. But what the authorities didn’t know is that Hank is a cross between a Labrador and a Staffordshire bull terrier and is NOT a pit bull – he just looks like one.

In Northern Ireland, it is against the law to own a dog who even resembles a pit bull. Hank was taken to an undisclosed location under Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1983; there will be no visitations.

Hank’s owners, Leonard Collins and Joanne Meadows were not at home, but the police left a note on their door. Collins said that Hank spends most of his day laying around, but he also likes to play.

The couple has raised Hank since he was a puppy and have lobbied for his release. Hank has a skin condition that needs care, or it will flare up again.

UPDATE: HANK HAS BEEN SAVED AND RETURNED TO HIS FAMILY!!
