Family Of Cows Become Stranded On A Grassy ‘Island’ After Disastrous Earthquake

A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake devastated New Zealand Monday morning, November 14, 2016. Three survivors were spotted on a tiny patch of ground that went untouched. The three cows narrowly escaped being swept away in the landslide caused by the quake.

The cows are serving as a reminder that humans are not the only ones affected by storms and natural disasters. The aerial footage shows the two adult cows and one calf stranded on a grassy island near Kaikoura, a coastal region hardest hit by the quake. The police and local authorities are aware of the cows’ situation but are working to ensure all the human lives are safe and accounted for.
